It was named after one of Hungary's kings called King Matthias. It is a Roman Catholic church located in front of the Fisherman's Bastion. The original building was built in the Romanesque style in 1015 but it was destroyed by the Mongols in 1241. The current building was built in the Gothic style in the second half of the 14th century. 2) Churches of Hungary - Holy Spirit Catholic Church The Holy Spirit Catholic Church can be found in Paks. It was designed by Hungarian organic architect Imre Makovecz in 1988 and is constructed entirely of wood. 3) Churches of Hungary - "Sziklatemplom" The "Sziklatemplom" (literally cave-church) is located in the Gellért Hill Cave, in Budapest. Its construction was finished in 1931. It belongs to the Order of Saint Paul the First Hermit, a monastic order that was founded in Hungary in the 13th century. During the communist era it was first closed, then used as a dorm by the Hungarian National Ballet Institute. After the fall of the communist regime it was reopened by the order. 4) Churches of Hungary - The Votive Church and Cathedral of Our Lady of Hungary The Votive Church and Cathedral of Our Lady of Hungary is located in the south of Hungary, in Szeged. Its construction began in 1913, but it was not completed until 1930 because of the First World War. It is the 4th largest building in Hungary.
