We love great Hungarian wines, so we made you this wine tasting program in the best wine yard of the region.
Ever thought of making a trip to Budapest’s wine cellars? Here is the chance to visit the limestone wine labyrinths with your own guide! No other capital has an operating vineyard where quality grape is grown and wine is still produced in many of the hundreds years old wineries.Today approximately 30-40km of the underground passages are being used for storing and making wine. You can find wines here from all the 22 wine-regions of Hungary. Our first stop is the educational vineyard of oenologists on Budafok’s hilltop where you can admire the cultivated field of grape types. We ramble along the chesnut tree village streets to Törley Sparkling Wine Cellars (founded in 1882) to have a pleasant and Unique experience of tasting 2 types of sparkling wine selecton. These are sweet Tokaji Doux made of Hungarian grape variety Furmint and dry Chardonnay Brut Nature.
From there, we take a short drive up to Várszegi wine cellar where we try 3 types of fresh wines made locally from the cellar’s own South-Balaton vineyard grapes. Along the tour we provide you a wine specialist to also guide you. You have possibility to buy bottles in both cellars. Tour ends in Budapest city center at Hotel Intercontinental, Eurama Office.
