Are you the kind of person who cannot start his/her day without a nice, warm cup of coffee? Are you also the kind of person who enjoys travelling? Budapest is the perfect place for you to combine these two. Keep on reading to find out which places are the best for a cup of coffee in Budapest! 🙂
1) Coffee in Budapest – Sirius Teaház
Sirius Teaház (Sirius “tea house”) is a very unique place. I don’t think you could find such a place anywhere else. What makes it really interesting is its interior design. You need to take your shoes off to be able to enter its main rooms. You have to go through a wardrobe to enter its inner room (just like in Narnia ♥ ). There are hidden parts and rooms that you can only reach by climbing up on ropes and/or wooden steps. There is a great selection of coffees and teas that you can choose from, as well as sweets and sandwiches.
2) Coffee in Budapest – Altair Teaház
Sirius Teaház has got a sister called Altair Teaház (Altair “tea house”). What makes it unique is also its interior design. You also need to take your shoes off and climb up on things to reach the best spots in this magical place. It has a similar selection of food and drinks as Sirius Teaház and they are almost in the same street, so if you find that one of them is full or closed, you can easily go to the other one instead.
3) Coffee in Budapest – Cafe Frei
Cafe Frei is a coffee shop chain. You can find a Cafe Frei in several places in Budapest, for example in some of the biggest shopping centers. There is a Cafe Frei in Budapest’s most popular shopping street called ‘Váci street’ as well. What makes these cafes interesting is that they have a huge selection of coffees from all over the world with several falvours. You can also get interesting shakes, lemonades and delicious cakes as well. This chain was created by and named after Tamás Frei, a famous travelling television reporter in Hungary.
4) Coffee in Budapest – Gerbaud
Gerbaud is the most famous confectionery in Budapest. It’s quite expensive but it’s absolutely worth the price. Their cakes don’t only look amazing but they are extremely delicious as well. It’s a very elegant place where you can feel like a real aristocrat while sipping your coffee. It’s situated at Vörösmarty square , very close to the most popular shopping street called ‘Váci street’ and very close to our office as well. 🙂
5) Coffee in Budapest – Csendes Vintage Bar
Csendes offers a unique atmosphere to its visitors. It’s a little bit dark, its decoration is quite eclectic. Don’t be suprised to see parts of dolls and other random things used as decoration on its walls. 🙂 Have you ever used a bathtub as a chair? No? Then it’s time for you to try it in this place! 🙂
6) Coffee in Budapest – New York Cafe
Would you like to have a cup of coffe in one of the world’s most beautiful cafes? New Your Cafe is a very elegant, very stunning cafe in the center of Budapest. If I said that you would feel like an aristocrat in Gerbaud, then I should say that here you would feel like a prince or princess. I have to admit that this place is quite expensive as well, but we only live once, don’t we? 😉
7) Coffee in Budapest – Szamos confectioneries
Szamos Confectionery is one of the best and most popular confectioneries in Hungary. It has several shops and cafes throughout Budapest. My favourite one is the Szépkilátás Cukrászda (literally ‘Beautiful view confectionery’) on Svábhegy. Their coffe is delicious, their cakes are even tastier. Try sitting outside in good weather.
8) Coffee in Budapest – Kino Cafe
Kino Cafe is situated in the center of Budapest, just by the Comedy Theatre of Budapest. It isn’t just a cafe but a small cinema as well. It’s the perfect romantic program for couples to drink a nice cup of coffee there, then cuddle inside the cinema watching an art movie.
